Why this site exists

Most online calculators share the same three problems. They bury a small input form under several screens of padding written for search engines rather than people. They produce a number without telling you which formula generated it or what it assumed. And they demand an email address before showing a result that took two milliseconds to compute.

UtilityAtlas is built on the opposite premise: the tool goes near the top, the formula is stated explicitly, the assumptions are written down, and nothing is gated. If a calculation has limitations — and most do — we would rather say so on the page than let you find out later.

How the tools work

Every calculator and word tool runs as JavaScript inside your own browser. Nothing you type is sent to a server, stored, or logged. That is a deliberate design choice rather than a privacy slogan: it means the tools work on slow connections, keep working if our hosting has a bad day, and give us no sensitive data to lose.

It also sets a boundary on what we can offer. We do not provide live exchange rates, real-time market data, or anything requiring a server-side lookup, because doing so would mean sending your inputs somewhere. Where a tool needs an external rate, you enter it yourself and we show you exactly what was done with it.

How the site is funded

UtilityAtlas is supported by advertising. We do not charge for tools, sell user data, run affiliate links inside calculator results, or accept payment to alter what a formula returns. Ads are placed after content rather than inside it, and no tool is hidden behind one.

We think it is worth stating the incentive plainly: ad-funded sites are under constant pressure to inflate page length and multiply thin pages. We would rather publish fewer pages that answer the question properly. If you find one that does not, tell us — contact details are below.

Accuracy and corrections

Formulas are checked against published references before a tool ships, and worked examples on each page are calculated by hand so you can verify the tool against them. The full process is documented on our methodology page.

We get things wrong sometimes. If a result looks incorrect, email hello@useutilityatlas.com with the tool name and the inputs you used. Accuracy-affecting reports are prioritised over everything else on the roadmap.

What we do not do

Nothing on this site is financial, medical, legal, or tax advice. Our calculators are arithmetic: they apply a stated formula to numbers you supply. A retirement projection is not a plan, a BMI figure is not a diagnosis, and a debt-to-income ratio is not a lending decision. For decisions that matter, use these tools to prepare for a conversation with a qualified professional, not to replace one.
